What Is Whipping Cream?

Isn’t whipping cream the same thing as heavy cream? Not necessarily.
Heavy cream has a very high-fat content. It rises to the top of the milk since it has around 36% milk fat content. Another term for it is heavy whipping cream.
Heavy cream is a great thickening agent for a variety of dishes and not all of them being desert. You can use it in homemade butter or lobster bisque.
Whipping cream has a slightly lower fat milk fat content than heavy cream. Since it has such an airy texture, it’s best used for lightweight fillings and toppings.
Keep in mind that whipping cream isn’t the same as whipped cream. The two terms are very similar, so try not to get confused!
With that in mind, you can use whipping cream to make homemade whipped cream. It’s the perfect topping for ice cream, pies, or meringues.
