Do you love to bake? Learn how you can take your baking dreams to the next level by taking baking classes at the biggest, and most well-established Malaysian baking college.

Are you someone who loves baking? Do you have a passion for Malaysian food and vegan food too? Do you want to be able to truly and honestly refer to yourself as a pastry scholar?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’ve come to the right place. Introducing: MIB College, which might just be the best baking school in Malaysia. Any person who wants to take their passion for Malaysian baking beyond typical baking classes would be a fool to not consider it.

Considering the scientific precision baking requires and the nuclear consequences of a failed pastry, it’s no wonder why people go to colleges to make sure they get it right.

But what exactly makes MIB college so great? This article will walk you through all you need to know about this culinary college for lovers of vegan food.

Why Should You Go To Baking College?

baking classes

Before you consider MIB college itself, you have to consider whether baking college is right for you in the first place. Here are some signs it’s time to take your talents to the classroom.

  • You’ve acquired a library full of cookbooks
  • You’re a better cook than any of your teachers in baking class
  • You’re not just interested in baking, but baking science and technology
  • You scream at baking shows the way old people scream when they know the answers on Jeopardy
  • You love vegan cooking
  • You’ve ruined one or more friendships by insulting someone’s pie
  • Your significant other is worried you’re going to leave them for an oven
  • You own a comically tall bakers hat
  • You have some money burning a hole in your pocket 🤣

In all seriousness, baking school isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s what separates the hobbyists from those ready to propel themselves to the top of the game.

College vs Institute

baking classes

Understand that a baking college is different than a culinary institute and vocational school. We’re talking about a college education career. That means books.

Whereas culinary institutes focus on the practicals of learning with short classes, a baking college will provide you a more holistic education. At MIB, you’ll learn not just about how to make food, but lessons in baking science, international cuisine, and entrepreneurship. This is a good thing because the last thing you want is to be out on your rear peddling cakes off a cart. After all, you run your business into the ground.

(Note: they also have a class on something called “advanced sugarcraft” which sounds like something straight out of Star Wars, so that’s pretty cool.)

Baking and Life

Unfortunately, you’re most likely not going to be hired popping out pastries and shoveling them into a rich persons’ mouth right off the bat. You’re going to need to find a career path, and while it isn’t as tedious as yuppies who have to climb the corporate ladder, it’s still difficult.

This is why you want to choose a baking school that has connections to the real world.

MIB boasts a strong career pathway program. After your first year, you’re able to continue your education, or simply go into the field. Their faculty are strong members of the baking community and will be able to help you get jobs.

You can’t forget that the prominence of vegan foods in today’s market means that specializing in them in college will certainly make you shine.

Unlike most academic fields, the academy isn’t where it’s at with baking. People interested in literary criticism go to school to learn about their field, then get jobs working for colleges. With baking, you want to get out of college and into the real world (a college with a world-class pastry chef running the cafeteria certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing, however).

Full-time vs Part-time

baking classes

With MIB, you’re lucky, because you’re able to choose between full-time and part-time programs. Normally, you’d have to way your options for two different colleges, but with MIB, you can settle on going there before you pick the type of program you want to do.

At MIB, you have options if you’re a baker. You can go for the full-time Diploma in Baking Science and Technology or the part-time certificate in baking, advanced certificate in baking, plant-based cuisine, and certificate in cake-decoration.

The certificate in plant-based cuisine is much more similar to classes in a culinary institute. You’d only need to pop into classes once or twice a week. However, it could be well worth it for the specialization.

This all depends on your financial situation, how much time you have, and how willing you are to completely uproot your life in service of pastries. If you’re working a day job, it might be best to go for a part-time course. However, understand that you’re not going to wind up with a lot of free time.

The part-time course is nothing to scoff at, however. Just check out the crazy number of recipes you’ll learn how to make. You’ll also be able to take home any baked good you make, which is a definite plus.

The full-time program supplies the aforementioned holistic approach. The final semester completely devotes itself to training with the industry, to help you go into the world of baking full-time.

The decision is tough to make, but ultimately it’s a very important one, so it’s worth stressing about. However, if you find yourself too stressed, check out our stress baking recipes.

More Than Just Baking Classes

If you’re a passionate baker looking for an experience beyond traditional baking classes, consider heading to baking college. More specifically, consider heading to MIB, for one of the most varied, personal, and in-depth baking programs around. Whether you choose part-time or full-time, you’re sure to get your money’s worth and more likely to succeed.

Today’s world is shifting more and more towards vegan and plant-based cuisine. Go to a great culinary institute that specializes in vegan cooking to make sure your career takes off.
