In fact, if you’re located in Kuala Lumpur, you’re in luck. You’ve got Tsukiji No. 8 basically right in your backyard, so make sure you go taste a slice of Japan for yourself.
What’s so special about Tsukiji No. 8 anyway? And what do you need to know before you go dine at this exquisite Japanese restaurant? Read on to find out!
A Fantastic Location
First things first: Tsukiji No. 8 is located in the Wisma Lim Foo Yong building at Jalan Raja Chulan. This is one of KL’s oldest buildings, so you’re dining somewhere with history.
Not only that, but the inside is very cleanly styled. In fact, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported straight to Japan the moment you walk through the doors!
Make sure you try and get a table by the big windows at the front of the restaurant, as you’ll be able to get a nice view outside. Otherwise, you can sit at the custom-built sushi bar, where you’ll get a special view of the sushi chef preparing every dish that’s ordered!
Food Sourced From Japan

If you know anything about Japan, then you might’ve noticed that this restaurant is named after one of their most famous fish markets: Tsukiji Market!
They’re not just named after the fish market. In fact, they source most of their fish from Tsukiji Fish Market to give you a taste of the country’s delicious seafood, all without you having to get on a plane. They’ll bring Japan straight to you!
For everything else, you can also expect them to be Japanese premium produce. Not only that, but trust that Tsukiji No. 8 has sourced the produce from the best markets around and they actually guarantee the freshness. You’ll definitely taste the difference (and no fishiness involved…except the good kind, of course)!
Dedication to Serving Authentic Japanese Food

Are you a fan of tradition, especially when it comes to Japanese cuisine? Then you definitely won’t be disappointed when you dine at Tsukiji No. 8! They are purists when it comes to authenticity and tradition, so you can expect actual Japanese people to praise their food.
You’ll find the best sushi chefs in the industry at this restaurant. They use some magical secret recipes to create dishes that’ll have you salivating the moment you see them. For example, Tsukiji No. 8 uses the best sushi rice and their sushi chefs make it so divinely that your taste buds have never tasted a texture like this before.
Their chefs also home make the soy sauce. You won’t find soy sauce from a manufactured bottle here!
Fantastic Service

In addition to their passion for serving authentic Japanese food, Tsukiji No. 8 also strives to create strong relationships with not just their customers, but also their suppliers and community. If you want a restaurant to call a second home, then you’ll find it here! Although we wouldn’t recommend trying to pitch a tent and camping out on their premises, as they’re sure to give you the boot.
But from the moment you walk in the door and until the second you leave the restaurant, you can expect the staff to treat you as if you’re family.
Their dedication to providing you service and food that’s as perfect as possible is unrivaled. You’ll be treated like royalty and you’ll never want to dine anywhere else!
Wonderful Menu

All you have to do is take one look at their menu and you’ll fall in love. The pictures are wonderfully done so you feel like you can take a bite through the screen!
Considering the menu’s 32 pages long, we couldn’t possibly begin to cover everything here. But if there’s one thing you have to order, it’s a sashimi platter! Order any of the Sashimori dishes to get bites of fresh tuna, salmon, octopus, shrimp, roe, and more.
If you want a more filling meal, try a rice dish, such as a don (rice bowl). Choosing any lunch set (or bento box) will give you a main dish of things like sashimi, salmon teriyaki, nigiri udon, chicken nanban, curry katsu, etc. It’ll also come with a bowl of rice, miso soup, salad, and steamed egg custard.
And for those of you who love fried foods, you’re in for a treat! Tsukiji No. 8 has tako karaage, fried saba, soft shell prawn, popcorn prawn, soft shell crab karaage, and more.
Drink to Your Heart's Content

What’s a Japanese restaurant without some good alcohol? Considering you’re eating Japanese food, you should pair it with some sake. Tsukiji No. 8 actually has an impressive label of handcrafted sake, so you’ve got to give it a try!
If, for some reason, you want to have a fusion experience, mix your Japanese cuisine with some soju (that’s Korean alcohol for you). Do whatever floats your boat!
